オーストラリアの西オーストラリア州南西部に分布しています。海岸沿いの砂地やヒースなどに生え、高さは１０～１５メートルになります。樹皮は褐色の繊維状です。枝は「やなぎ」のように枝垂れます。葉はくすんだ緑色で狭楕円形か狭卵形、または鎌形で長さは２～１５センチです。葉を押しつぶすと、ペパーミントのような強烈な匂いがします。春から初夏、小枝に沿って小さな房状に白色の５弁花を咲かせます。果実は、大きさ３～４ミリの硬い蒴果です。

フトモモ科アゴニス属の常緑中高木で、学名は Agonis flexuosa。英名は Western Australian peppermint、Swan River peppermint。

The Western Australian peppermint (Agonis flexuosa) belongs to Myrtaceae (the Myrtle family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is found in the southwestern part of Western Australia, Australia. It grows on sandy soil and heaths along the coast and grows 10-15 m tall. The bark is brown and fibrous. The branches droop like a "willow". The leaves are dull green, narrowly elliptic, narrowly ovate or sickle-shaped, and 2-15 cm long. The leaves have a strong peppermint-like odor when crushed. The five-petaled white flowers bloom in small clusters along the twigs from spring to early summer. The fruit is a hard capsule 3-4 mm in size.
