The Pyrethrum (Pyrethrum coccineum) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Caucasus region. Usually used for mosquito coils is "Pyrethrum cinerariifolium", which is native to the Croatian region. Both flowers contain an insecticidal ingredient called "pyrethrin", but this species has a low content and is mainly cultivated for ornamental purposes. The height is about 50 to 60 cm, and red and pink flowers come in May to July. It is also known as "Akabana-jochu-giku" in Japan.
