The Foxtail grass (Setaria faberi) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is an annual herb that is native all over Japan, the Korean Peninsula, China and Far East Russia. This herb grows in sunny roadsides and waste grounds, and can reach about 1 m in height. The flowering season is August through November, and is later than Green bristle grass (Setaria viridis). This plant is also larger than Green bristle grass, and is defined by long inflected spikes. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "法氏狗尾草", and in Chinese "大狗尾草" (da gou wei cao). It is a C4 plant (Plants with C4-type photosynthesis).
