マダガスカル島の固有種で、南西部に分布しています。沿岸の砂地に生え、高さは１２メートルにもなります。幹は柱状で、わずかに枝をだします。長い棘が生えています。葉はハート形で、毎年おなじところからでます。緑色の苞のある黄緑色の花を咲かせます。園芸上は「さしながふたつばかなぼう（刺長二つ葉金棒）」と呼ばれます。

カナボウノキ科アルアウディア属の小低木で、学名は Alluaudia montagnacii。英名はありません。

The Alluaudia montagnacii belongs to the family Didiereaceae. It is a shrub that is endemic to Madagascar and is found in the southwestern part of the island. It grows in sandy coastal areas and can grow up to 12 m tall. The trunk is columnar with a few branches. It has long spines. The leaves are heart-shaped, and they emerge from the same place every year. It produces yellow-green flowers with green bracts. Horticulturally, it is called "Sashinaga-futatsuba-kanabo" in Japan.
