地中海沿岸と黒海沿岸のヨーロッパおよびトルコに分布しています。湿った森林や草原に生え、高さは５０〜１００センチになります。葉は線形で青灰色、全体に平行脈があります。５月から６月にかけて、花茎を伸ばして散形花序をだし、垂れ下がるベル形の花を咲かせます。花被片は、クリーム色地に紫紅色の斑紋が入ります。花は最初は下向きですが、種子を形成する直前に上向きに変わります。

ユリ科ネギ属の多年草で、学名は Allium siculum (syn. Nectaroscordum siculum)。英名は Honey garlic、Sicilian honey lily。

The Honey garlic (Allium siculum) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is found in Europe and Turkey along the Mediterranean and Black Sea coasts. It grows in moist forests and meadows and is 50-100 cm tall. The leaves are linear and blue-gray, with parallel veins all over. The flower stalks grow to produce umbels with drooping bell-shaped flowers from May to June. The perianth segments are cream with purple-red spots. The flowers are initially downwards, but turn upwards just before forming seeds.
