アロカシア・アマゾニカ [Index] [Back] フィリピンのミンダナオ島原産の「アロカシア・サンデリアナ」と、中国と東アジアが原産の「ながばくわずいも」の園芸品種「ワトソニア」とを交配した園芸品種です。種小名は、アメリカ・フロリダ州にあった「アマゾン・ナーセリー」に由来します。葉は細長い矢のようなかたちで長さ６０センチほどになり、濃緑色の地に白い葉脈がはっきり出ていて、葉縁がギザギザしています。本種は、英国王立園芸協会の庭園功労賞を受賞しています。  サトイモ科クワズイモ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Alocasia x amazonica。英名はありません。  The Alocasia x amazonica belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is a horticultural hybrid of "Alocasia sanderiana", native to Mindanao Island in the Philippines, and "Watsonia", a horticultural variety of "Alocasia sanderiana", native to China and East Asia. The specific epithet comes from the "Amazon Nursery" in Florida, the Unites States. The leaves are slender arrow-shaped, up to 60 cm long, and dark green with distinct white veins and jagged leaf margins.
