南アフリカの西ケープ州に分布しています。海岸沿いの尾根や斜面に生え、高さは３０〜６０センチになります。新しい株は６０センチほど上に伸び、その後折れ曲がって地面に沿って伸び始めます。葉は三角形で、青緑色から青銅色、ロゼットを形成します。晩冬から初春、茎頂に枝分かれした短い茎を伸ばし、珊瑚色の筒状花を咲かせます。

ユリ科アロエ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Aloe distans。英名は Jeweled aloe, Golden tooth aloe。

The Jeweled aloe (Aloe distans) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. It grows on ridges and slopes along the coast and is 30-60 cm tall. New plants grow up to 60 cm and then begin to bend and grow along the ground. The leaves are triangular, blue-green to bronze, and form rosettes. In late winter or early spring, short, branched stems grow at the top of the stem and produce coral-colored, tubular flowers.
