The Dwarf hedgehog aloe (Aloe humilis) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in the southern Cape region of South Africa. It grows in sandy gravel areas with summer and winter rainfall and grows to about 45 cm tall. It has no stem, blue-green leaves with small white spines on both sides, and blooms from August to September with vermilion, orange, or yellow flowers. In Japan, it is horticulturally known as "帝王錦".
