マダガスカル島が原産です。低地の石灰岩地帯に生え、高さは２５センチほどになります。茎は基部で分枝して、細長い葉がでます。花茎を伸ばして、総状花序に朱色の花を咲かせます。筒状花の口元は緑白色です。園芸上は「みくろにしき（弥勒錦）」と呼ばれます。

ユリ科アロエ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Aloe millotii。英名はありません。

The Aloe millotii belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial that is native to the island of Madagascar. It grows in lowland limestone areas and is about 25 cm tall. The stem is branched at the base and produces long, slender leaves. The flower stalks grow and produce vermilion flowers in racemes. The mouth of the tubular flowers is greenish white. It is horticulturally known as "Miroku-nishiki" in Japan.
