南アフリカの北部、ハウテン州（Gauteng）からムプマランガ州（Mpumalanga）が原産です。高さは１５センチほどになります。葉は灰緑色で乳白色の斑があり、縁には赤褐色の棘があります。長い花茎を伸ばして朱赤色の花を咲かせます。園芸上は「ほしがすみ（星霞）」と呼ばれます。

ユリ科アロエ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Aloe verdo-orniae。英名はありません。

The Aloe verdo-orniae belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial that is native to the northern part of South Africa, from Gauteng to Mpumalanga. It grows to about 15 cm tall. The leaves are gray-green with milky white patches and reddish brown spines on the edges. It produces vermilion-red flowers on long stalks. Horticulturally, it is called "Hoshi-gasumi" in Japan.
