わが国の九州、奄美群島に分布しています。山地の渓流沿いに生え、高さは３センチほどになります。茎はよく分枝して地上を這い、長さ１０～２０センチになります。葉は３出複葉で、倒心形の小葉がつきます。４月から１０月ごろ、花茎の先に小さな黄色い花を咲かせます。果実は蒴果です。この種小名については、意見が決まっていないようです。

カタバミ科カタバミ属の多年草で、学名は Oxalis amamiana。英名はありません。

Amami wood sorrel (Oxalis amamiana) belongs to Oxalidaceae (the Wood sorrel family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Amami Islands of Kyushu. This herb grows in mountain stream banks and can reach about 3 cm in height. The stems are much branched, crawl on the grounds and extend 10-20 long. The leaves are trifoliate with obcordate leaflets. The small yellow flower blooms at the tip of flowering stalk from April to October. The fruits are capsules. The specific epithet may be unresolved.
