あまみくさあじさい (奄美草紫陽花) [Index] [Back] わが国の南西諸島、奄美大島の固有種です。渓流沿いの岩場や湿った崖に生え、高さは３０〜６０センチになります。葉は長楕円状披針形で互生し、表面には白色の細かい毛が生え、縁には鋸歯があります。８月から１０月ごろ、茎頂の円錐花序に、淡紅色か白色の小さな花を咲かせます。花には装飾花はなく、両性花だけです。  アジサイ科クサアジサイ属の多年草で、学名は Cardiandra amamiohsimensis (syn. Hydrangea amamiohsimensis)。英名はありません。  The "Amami-kusa-ajisai" (Cardiandra amamiohsimensis) belongs to Hydrangeaceae (the Hydrangea family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Amami Oshima in the Nansei Islands of Japan. It grows on rocks and damp cliffs along mountain streams and is 30-60 cm tall. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate and alternate, with fine white hairs on the surface and serrated edges. From August to October, small, pale red or white flowers bloom in panicles at the top of the stem.
