The Lady of the night (Brunfelsia americana) belongs to Solanaceae (the Nightshade family). It is a small tree that is native to the West Indies. This tree is fast-growing, and it can reach 3-4 m in height. The leaves are green to yellowish-green, elliptic to obovate, with entire margins. The creamy white flowers bloom in late spring, summer and fall. They are extremely fragrant after dark. The fruits are rounded pericarps. All parts of a plant are toxic, especially roots and fruits.
