The nodding trillium (Trillium cuneatum) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the southeastern United States. This herb grows in wettish upland woods, to 400 m elevationm and can reach about 30 cm in height. The leaves are three, ovate-diamond, whitish-mottled, and arranged in whorl. The flower is black-brown and bloom from March to April.
