アメリカすみれさいしん (アメリカ菫細辛)

北アメリカの東部、カナダのニューファンドランド州からアメリカのジョージア・アーカンソー州にかけて分布しています。湿り気のある林内や草地、道ばたなどに生え、高さは７．５〜２０センチになります。太い根茎があるのが特徴です。葉は心形で、基部は丸く巻き込みます。３月から６月ごろ、花茎の先に青色から紫色、白色の花を咲かせます。 写真中４〜中６、中９〜中１０は園芸品種の「プリセアナ（cv. Priceana）」、 中７は「フレックレス（cv. Freckles）」。 |

The Common blue violet (Viola sororia) belongs to Violaceae (the Viola family). It is a perennial herb that is native to eastern North America, from Newfoundland of Canada to Georgia-Arkansas of the United States. This herb grows in wet forests, grasslands or roadsides and can reach 7.5-20 cm in height. It is defined by thick rootstocks. The leaves are cordate, twist up at the bases. The blue to purple or white flowers come on the stalks from March to June. The 4th to 6th and 9th to 10th photos are a cultivar 'Priceana', and the 7th one is 'Freckles'. |
