Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) belongs to the Vitaceae (the Grape family). It is a deciduous woody vine that is native to the eastern and central United States. This vine climbs up ajacent tree trunks or quay wall and can reach about 15 m long. Occasionally it stands on one's own. The leaves are pentafoliolate with serrated leaflets. The new leaves are tinged red and the fall foliages are dark red. The cymes are borne and bloom small yellowish-green flowers from June to August. The fruits are berries and ripen bluish-black in end of summer.
