Columbia windflower (Anemone deltoidea) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the west coast of the United States. This herb grows in moist forests in shaded areas, and it can reach 10-30 cm in height. The leaves are basal, and divided into three coarsely toothed leaflets. The flowers lack petals, having instead petallike white sepals, and bloom in mid summer. There are three leaflike bracts below the flower. The fruits are spherical achenes.
