メキシコから熱帯アメリカが原産です。おもに湿潤熱帯バイオーム（生物群系）に生え、高さは２０〜７０センチになります。葉は長さ１５〜６０センチ、葉身は薄く、１回羽状複葉です。羽片は４〜６対つきます。胞子葉は別に生じるのではなく、羽状複葉に分かれた葉の、最下の小葉が胞子嚢をつけます。この小葉は長い柄を持って伸び上がり、その先端には葉身が発達せずに胞子嚢群のみが密生します。

The Flowering fern (Anemia phyllitidis) belongs to the family Schizaeaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is native to Mexico and tropical America. It grows mainly in humid tropical biomes and is 20 to 70 cm tall. The leaves are 15 to 60 cm long, with a thin leaf blade and a single pinnate compound leaf. There are 4 to 6 pairs of pinnae. The fertile fronds are not produced separately, but are produced on the lowest leaflet of the pinnately compound leaf. This leaflet grows up with a long stalk, the tip of which is densely covered with only sori without a developed leaf blade.
