ヨーロッパの大部分に分布しています。林や河岸などに生え、高さは１０〜３０センチになります。茎は分枝しません。根生葉は１個で、３〜５浅裂して大きな鋸歯があり、長い葉柄があります。茎葉は３輪生し、小葉は細かく羽状分裂しています。５月から６月ごろ、５〜８個の萼片からなる黄色い花を咲かせます。真夏までには枯れて、地下茎で残ります。

The Yellow wood anemone (Anemone ranunculoides) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to most of Europe. This herb grows in forests or stream banks and can reach 10-30 cm in height. The stem is unbranched. The basal leaf is 3-5 lobed and large-toothed with long petioles. The cauline leaves are three whorled with narrow and pinnatifid leaflets. The yellow flowers with 5-8 tepals bloom from May to June. This herb is dying back down to its rhizomes by mid summer.
