ブラジル西部・北部からペルー、ボリビアそれにパラグアイに分布しています。大きな着生植物で、乾燥した森林に生えます。葉は長楕円形で革質、２メートルほどの長さになります。葉柄はふつう１０〜４０センチになります。雄性と雌性が含まれる小さな花を、肉穂花序に咲かせます。仏炎苞は藤紫色または緑色の帯びた紫色で、槍の形に似ています。仏炎苞はふつう長さが５〜２５センチあります。種小名は植物学者のチモシー・プラウマン（Timothy Plowman）に因みます。

サトイモ科ベニウチワ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Anthurium plowmanii。英名はありません。

Anthurium plowmanii belongs to the Araceae (the Arum family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from western and northern Brazil into Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay. It is a large epiphytic plant and grows in dry forests. The leaves are oblong, leathery and as long as 2 m. The petioles are typically 10-40 cm long. The tiny flowers containing both male and female sexual parts bloom on the spadix. The spathe is violet purple or green tinged with purple and the shape is similar to a spear. Typically the spathe will measure from 5-25 cm in length. The specific epithet is named in honor of botanist Timothy Plowman.
