メキシコ南部、西インド諸島からブラジル南部にかけて分布しています。スカンデンス種は、標高０〜２７００メートルの範囲に自生し、この地域では最も広範に分布しているサトイモの仲間です。半蔓性の小型種で、鮮やかな緑色の葉で光沢があります。白い仏炎苞があり、肉穂花序に白い「ぶどう」のような果実をつけます。

The Pearl laceleaf (Anthurium scandens) belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from southern Mexico and the West Indies to southern Brazil. The Anthurium scandens is the most widely distributed of the taro species in the region, growing wild at altitudes ranging from 0 to 2700 m. It is a small, semi-vining species with bright green, glossy leaves. It has white spathe bracts and produces white "grape"-like fruits in spadixes.
