アメリカのテキサス州およびメキシコのチワワ州とコアウイラ州に分布しています。乾燥した砂地や石灰岩地に生え、高さは３０〜１５０センチになります。茎は太くて直立し、よく分枝します。葉は円形から楕円形で、太い葉柄があります。５月から１０月ごろ、長い枝に、直径１５ミリほどのピンク色から赤紫色の花を咲かせます。雄しべは５個あり、濃いピンク色で、花冠から突き出します。

オシロイバナ科アヌロカウリス属の一年草または短命の多年草で、学名は Anulocaulis eriosolenus。英名は Big Bend ringstem。

The Big Bend ringstem (Anulocaulis eriosolenus) belongs to Nyctaginaceae (the Four o'clock family). It is an annual or a short-lived perennial herb that is distributed in the state of Texas in the United States and the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila in Mexico. It grows in dry sandy or limestone areas and is 30 to 150 cm tall. The stem is thick and upright, and it branches frequently. The leaves are round to elliptic in shape and have a thick petiole. From May to October, pink to reddish-purple flowers about 15 mm in diameter bloom on long branches. There are five stamens, which are dark pink and protrude from the corolla.
