ヨーロッパの山地、アルプスやアペニン山脈に分布しています。標高７００〜２０００メートルの林内や岩礫地の斜面に生え、高さは４０〜８０センチになります。葉は２回３出複葉で、小葉は無毛です。５月から７月ごろ、かぎ状の距がある、濃い紫すみれ色の花を咲かせます。

キンポウゲ科オダマキ属の多年草で、学名は Aquilegia atrata。英名は Dark columbine。

The Dark columbine (Aquilegia atrata) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to European mountains; the Alps and the Apennines. This herb grows in woodlands and rocky slopes, 700-2000 m elavation, and can reach 40-80 cm in height. The leaves are 2-trifoliate with glabrous leaflets. The dark purple-violet flowers with hooked spurs bloom from May to July.
