ヨーロッパアルプスにに分布しています。標高１９００〜３５００メートルの雪田に生え、高さは５〜１０センチになります。基部の葉は卵形で厚く、縁には尖ったような鋸歯が３〜５個あり、ロゼットを形成します。茎葉は無柄です。６月から９月ごろ、短い総状花序をだし、青みがかった白色の花を咲かせます。

アブラナ科ヤマハタザオ属の多年草で、学名は Arabis caerulea。英名はありません。

The Arabis caerulea belongs to Brassiaceae (the Mustard family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the European Alps. This herb grows in snow patches 1900-3500 m elevation and can reach 5-10 cm in height. The basal leaves are thick, ovate with apically 3-5 dentate and form rosette. The cauline leaves are sessile. The bluish white flowers come in short racemes from June to September.
