熱帯アジアからオーストラリア、ニュージーランドに分布しています。葉は鳥足状に分枝して、長さは３０〜５０センチになります。羽片は扇形または楕円形で、濃緑色です。若葉のころには、紅色を帯びます。ソーラス（胞子嚢群）は、羽片の前縁につきます。

ホウライシダ科ホウライシダ属の常緑シダ類で、学名は Adiantum hispidulum。英名は Rough maidenhair、Rosy maidenhair。

The Rough maidenhair (Adiantum hispidulum) belongs to the family Parkeriaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed from tropical Asia to Australia and New Zealand. The leaves are bird's-foot branched and 30-50 cm long. The pinnae are fan-shaped or elliptic and dark green. When the leaves are young, they are reddish in color. The sorus (sporangium) is attached to the anterior margin of the pinnae.
