Ciliated-leaved sandwort (Arenaria ciliata) belongs to Caryophyllaceae (the Carnation family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to the European mountains; the Alps, the Pyrennes and northern Apennines. This herb grows in meadows, rocky places on calcareous soils, 1400-3200 m elevation, and can reach 4-6 cm in height. The leaves are elliptic to sppon-shaped and hairy on the lower part of edges. The white flowers bloom in clusters of 2-7 from July to August. They have visible white anthers.
