アメリカのアリゾナ州およびニューメキシコ州、それにメキシコ北部が原産です。高さは２５メートル以下になります。葉は掌状で、秋に黄色またはオレンジ色に黄葉します。雌雄同株です。目立たない花が春に咲きます。果実は褐色またはほとんど緑色の痩果で、幅１．５〜４センチ、夏から秋に熟します。「カリフォルニアすずかけのき」と特徴的には同じです。

スズカケノキ科スズカケノキ属の落葉高木で、学名は Platanus wrightii (syn. Platanus racemosa var. wrightii)。英名は Arizona sycamore。

The Arizona sycamore (Platanus wrightii) belongs to the Platanaceae (the Plane-tree family). It is a tall deciduous tree that is native to Arizona and New Mexico of the Unites States, and eastern Mexico. This tree grows up to 25 m in height. The leaves are palmately and turn yellow or orange in fall. It is monoecious. The inconspicuous flowers bloom in spring. The fruit is brown or mostly green achene, 1.5-4 cm across, and ripens in summer to fall. It is similar in characteristics to "Platanus racemosa" (California sycamore).
