The Aristolochia tricaudata belongs to Aristolochiaceae (the Birthwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Mexico. It is a small, upright shrub with large, elliptic, alternate leaves. In the axils of the leaves are 10 cm flowers with sepals that look like petals. The calyx has three lobes, the tips of which are caudate. The petals are densely covered with fine brown hairs.
