Armeria alpina belongs to Plumbaginaceae (the Plumbago family). It is a pernnial herb that is native to France, Italy, Austria and the Balkan Peninsula. This herb grows in rocks, gravel and meadows at 1400-2700 m elevation, and it can reach 10-30 cm in height. The leaves are linear and form a dense rosette. The small pink flowers bloom in the spherical inflorescences from July to August.
