Artemisia chamaemelifolia belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to south-western Europe; the Alps and the Pyrennes. This herb grows in rocky places, to 2400 m elevation, and can reach 30-50 cm in height. The leaves are 2-3 pinnately-lobed, half-clasping the stems. The yellow flower-heads bloom in crowded branched spikes from July to August. The flower bracts are linear or oblong, and usually hairless.
