Arum pictum belongs to the Araceae (the Arum family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Mediterranean, Corsica, Sardinia and the Balearics. The leaves are heart-shaped, glossy, and with a thin purple-red margin. It is the only fall-flowering species. The inflorescence usually appears before the foliage. It has velvet-textured purple-black spathes with a black spadix.
