南アフリカのケープ地方南東部からクワズールー・ナタールに分布するデンシフロルス種の園芸品種です。茎は直立または弓なりになり、高さは６０〜９０センチになります。茎には棘があり、葉は退化して、細かい茎が集まって仮葉を形成しています。花は小さな淡いピンク色でほとんど目立ちません。花後には真っ赤な球形の液果ができます。

ユリ科クサスギカズラ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Asparagus densiflorus cv. Myers。英名は Myers asparagus。

Myers asparagus (Asparagus densiflorus cv. Myers) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is a cultivar of Asparagus densiflorus. The parent species is native to southeast Cape Province to KwaZulu-Natal of South Africa. The stem is erect or arching with spines and can reach 60-90 cm in height. The leaves are degenerate though the small twigs form phyllodes. The flowers are small and invisible pale pink. Following bloom, bright red, round fruits ripen.
