インドの西ガーツ山脈南部の固有種です。熱帯雨林に生え、高さは５０～７０センチになります。葉は広線形で長さ１５センチほど、無毛が薄い毛が生えます。１０月から２月にかけて、枝先に総状花序をだし、紫色のベル形の花を咲かせます。果実は蒴果で、綿毛があります。

キツネノマゴ科アシスタシア属の多年草で、学名は Asystasia travancorica。英名はありません。

The Asystasia travancorica belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to the southern Western Ghats in India. It grows in tropical rainforests and is 50-70 cm tall. The leaves are broadly linear, about 15 cm long, and hairless but thinly hairy. The purple bell-shaped flowers bloom from October to February in racemes at the ends of the branches. The fruit is a capsule with floss.
