The "Atashika-kana-warabi" (Arachniodes oohorae) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed in Kumano City, Mie Prefecture, Honshu, Japan. It was discovered by Koichi Oohora in 1984. It grows in forests in mountainous areas, and grows in clusters. The leaves are 3-4 times pinnate compound, 20-35 cm long and 20-25 cm wide. The leaves are dark green, hard and shiny. The pinnules are about 2 mm long and have a distinct stipe. The sorus (group of sporangia) is small and is located near the margin. The indusium is entire. It is classified as a critically endangered species (CR) on the Red List. The Japanese name is derived from the place of its discovery, Atashika, Kumano City.
