アッツざくら (アッツ桜)

南アフリカのイースタンケープ州からクワズールーナタール州、ムプマランガ州に分布しています。湿り気のある岩の多い土地に生え、高さは１５センチになります。葉は披針形で、わずかに毛が生えます。春から初夏にかけて、白色やピンク色、赤色の花を咲かせます。和名の「アッツざくら」は、千島列島のアッツ島とは関係がありません。写真中２・中３は、園芸品種の「ルビーの輝き」。 |

ユリ科ロドヒポキシス属の多年草で、学名は Rhodohypoxis baueri。英名は Rose grass、Red star。 |

The Rose grass (Rhodohypoxis baurii) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga in South Africa. This herb grows in moist, rocky habitats, and can reach up to 15 cm in height. The leaves are lanceolate and sparsely hairy. The flowers are white, pink or red, and bloom in spring and early summer. The Japanese name "Attsu-zakura" is not related to Atz Island in the Kuril Islands. The 3rd and 4th photos show the horticultural variety 'Ruby-no-kagayaki" (Ruby's brilliance). |
