The Cane cactus (Austrocylindropuntia cylindrica) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a prickly pear that is distributed in Ecuador, South America. It grows in dry uplands and reaches a height of about 4 m. The trunk is woody and well branched. Stem segments grow laterally from the previous shoots and are dark green, cylindrical, and more than 25 cm long. Short, inconspicuous glochids grow on the areole of the rhomboidal tubercle. The leaves are awl-shaped and about 1 cm long. The flowers are red and 5-7 cm long, and the fruit is elliptic to urn-shaped, up to 9 cm long.
