えびらごけ (箙苔)

わが国の各地をはじめ、中国や東南アジア、オーストラリアなどに広く分布しています。山地の樹木の幹に着生する葉状地衣類です。地衣体の表面は緑褐色から褐色ですが、雨に濡れると鮮やかな青緑色になります。写真で赤褐色に見えるのは、子器（胞子形成器官）です。和名は、矢を入れ腰につける篭を意味する箙（えびら）から。 |

ヨロイゴケ科カブトゴケ属の葉状地衣類で、学名は Lobaria discolor。英名はありません。 |

"Ebira-goke" (Lobaria discolor) belongs to Stictaceae family. It is a foliose lichen that is widely distributed in Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Australia. This lichen grows on the trunk of trees in the mountains. The surface of this lichen body is greenish brown to brown, but when it gets wet, it becomes a vivid blue-green color. The reddish brown color in the photo is the apothecia (sporulating organ). The Japanese name comes from "Ebira", which means a basket that a samurai puts arrows on and attaches to his waist. |
