メキシコのサンルイスポトシ（San Luis Potosi）が原産です。多肉質の葉がロゼットを形成し、直径２０センチほどになります。夏、５０センチにもなる長い花茎を伸ばし、紅赤色の花を咲かせます。花冠の先端は５裂し、内側は濃い黄色です。園芸品種では、葉縁が赤色を帯びる「リップスティック（cv. Lipstick）」や、濃褐色を帯びる「エボニー（cv. Ebony）」などがあります。写真は園芸品種の一種。 |

The Molded wax agave (Echeveria agavoides) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The fleshy leaves form a rosette about 20 cm in diameter. In summer, it grows a long flower scape up to 50 cm long and produces reddish-red flowers.
