メキシコの北部、チワワ州に分布しています。ふつうは単独に生え、高さは２０センチ以上、直径５センチ以上になります。数多くの深紅色の棘に被われています。花は直径７センチほどのピンク色で、中心は白色です。初夏に開花します。園芸上は「むらさきたいよう（紫太陽）」と呼ばれます。東山植物園での表示は「しこうたいよう（紫紅太陽）」。 |

サボテン科エキノケレウス属の蝦サボテンで、学名は Echinocereus rigidissimus ssp. rubispinus。英名はありません。 |

The Echinocereus rigidissimus ssp. rubispinus belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen succulent perennial that is native to Chihuahua state in northern Mexico. This cactus grows generally solitary, and grows up to 20 cm in height, up to 5 cm in diameter. It is covered with numerous rose-red spines. Flowers are large about 7 cm in diameter, pink with a white center, and bloom in early summer. |
