The Narrowleaf anacharis (Egeria najas) belongs to Hydrocharitaceae (the Frogbit family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in South America from eastern Bolivia to Brazil and northeastern Argentina. It grows mainly in subtropical biomes in lakes, marshes, rivers, and other bodies of water, reaching a height of 50 cm. The leaves are lanceolate, about 2 cm long and 2 mm wide, with serrated edges. White flowers bloom on the surface of the water. It has three petals and is a one-day flower. In Japan, it is naturalized from Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu.
