The Nineawn pappusgrass (Enneapogon desvauxii) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family), It isan annual herb or a short-lived perennial herb that is distributed from the southwestern United States to northern Mexico and parts of South America. It grows in deserts and dry shrub zones, and is 20 to 45 cm tall. The stem is upright or slanting upwards, and often branches. The leaves are thin and thread-like, and are covered in soft hairs. From August to October, the plant produces spike-shaped inflorescences 2 to 10 cm long at the top of the stem. The spikes are grayish green or lead-colored. This plant is also used as livestock feed and for environmental conservation.
