メキシコからニカラグア、グアテマラに分布しています。偽鱗茎は樹木などに着生し、高さは６０センチほどになります。６０〜９０センチにもなる長い花茎を伸ばして、円錐花序をつけ、黄白色で先端が栗色と褐色の花を咲かせます。唇弁は先端で広がり、縞模様になっています。

ラン科エピデンドルム属の常緑多年草で、学名は Epidendrum alatum。英名はありません。

The Epidendrum alatum belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed from Mexico to Nicaragua and Guatemala. The pseudobulb grows on trees and other vegetation and grows to a height of about 60 cm. The long flower stalks, which can reach 60 to 90 cm, grow into a panicle with yellowish-white flowers that are chestnut and brown at the tip. The labellum is broadened at the tip and striped.
