中央アメリカのメキシコから南アメリカのペルー、ブラジルに分布しています。樹木や岩などに着生し、やや扁平な卵形の偽鱗茎から２〜４個の線状長楕円形の葉をつけます。春から夏にかけて、花茎の上部に淡い黄緑色の花を咲かせます。花は唇弁が上になるように倒立し、芳香があります。

ラン科エピデンドルム属の常緑多年草で、学名は Epidendrum fragrans。英名はありません。

The Epidendrum fragrans belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen herb that is distributed from Mexico in Central America to Peru and Brazil in South America. It grows on trees and rocks and bears 2 to 4 linear oblong-elliptic leaves from a slightly flattened, egg-shaped pseudobulb. Pale yellow-green flowers bloom at the top of the flower stalks in spring and summer. The flowers are inverted, with the labellum up, and are fragrant.
