アメリカの南西部、アリゾナ州からテキサス州西部、それにメキシコのチワワ州北部に分布しています。砂漠や乾燥した草地に生え、しばしば群生します。茎は球状で、直径２．５センチ以上になります。棘座は小さく、２０個以上の白い棘がつきます。５月から６月ごろ、茎頂に直径４ミリほどの小さな淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。

サボテン科エピテランタ属の球状サボテンで、学名は Epithelantha micromeris。英名は Button cactus。

The Bottun cactus (Epithelantha micromeris) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen perennial herbacious plant that is distributed from Arizona east to western Texas and northern Chihuahua of Mexico. This cactus grows in desert and arid grasslands and often forms clump. Stems are globular, up to 2.5 cm in diameter. Areoles are small and have 20 or more white spines. May to June, small pale pink flowers about 4 mm in daimeter are seen at the apex of stem.
