インドが原産です。成長が早く、高さは１〜２メートルほどになります。卵形の葉は濃緑色で小さな鋸歯があり、対生します。茎や葉柄、葉脈は赤紫色を帯びています。１１月から１月ごろ、上部の葉腋に短い花序をだし、濃い紫色の花を咲かせます。

キツネノマゴ科エランテムム属の常緑小低木で、学名は Eranthemum wattii。英名は Blue eyes。

The Blue eyes (Eranthemum wattii) belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to India. It grows quickly and can reach a height of 1-2 m. The ovate leaves are dark green with small serrations and grow in pairs. The stems, petioles and veins are reddish-purple. From November to January, it produced short inflorescences in the upper leaf axils, and bloom dark purple flowers.
