The desert yellow fleabane (Erigeron linearis) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to western North America from British Columbia as far south as Wyoming, northern Nevada and Mono County in California. This herb grows in sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata), grasslands, and rocky areas, and can reach 20 cm in height. The leaves are greenish-white, long and narrow, mostly clustered around the base of the stem. The yollow flower heads bloom all through the summer. It has a center of many golden yellow disc florets and a fringe of 25-45 pale to bright yellow or cream-colored ray florets.
