オーストラリアの東部に分布しています。日陰のある小川沿いの土手などに生え、高さは２メートルほどになります。茎は地面を這い、細かく分枝します。葉は三出複葉で、長さ３〜１５ミリで狭楕円形の小葉がつきます。おもに春から夏にかけて、ピンク色から白色の花を咲かせます。花弁は長さ６〜８ミリで６〜８個あり、雄しべはクリーム色でふつう５０〜６０個あります。

クノニア科エリカモドキ属の常緑低木で、学名は Bauera rubioides。英名は River rose、Dog rose。

The River rose (Bauera rubioides) belongs to the family Cunoniaceae. It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in the eastern part of Australia. It grows on shady creek banks and other shady areas and grows to about 2 m tall. The stems creep along the ground and are finely branched. The leaves are trifoliate compound leaves with narrow elliptic lobes 3 to 15 mm long. It produces pink to white flowers mainly from spring to summer. The petals are 6 to 8 mm long and 6 to 8 in number, and there are usually 50 to 60 cream-colored stamens.
