南アフリカのケープ州が原産です。直立して、高さは６０〜１２０センチになります。葉は針状で滑らか、深い緑色で３輪生します。１０月から４月ごろ、筒形の花を密に下向きに咲かせます。花冠の下部は赤色で、先端は緑黄色または黄色です。雌しべは花冠から突き出ます。

ツツジ科エリカ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Erica versicolor。英名はありません。

The Erica versicolor belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to the Cape Province of South Africa. It is erect and grows 60 to 120 cm tall. The leaves are needle-like, smooth, deep green, and arranged in 3 pairs. The lower part of the corolla is red with a greenish-yellow or yellow tip. The pistil protrudes from the corolla.
