The bastardsage (Eriogonum wrightii) belongs to Polygonaceae (the Knotweed family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to the southwestern Untied States, Baja California and northwest Mexico. This herb grows in rocky habitats from mountains to deserts, and up to a height of 60-90 cm. The leaves are variable, linear to elliptical, and tomentose. The white, pink or rose flowers bloom from June to October. The sepals and petals collectively referred to as a perianth, glabrous to densely woolly.
