ヨーロッパ南西部が原産のレイカルディ種（Erodium reichardii）とコルシクム種（Erodium corsicum）との種間交雑種です。高さは１５〜２０センチほどで、茎が地面を這って広がります。葉は心円形で浅裂し、グランドカバーに利用されます。６月から９月ごろ、ピンク色の花を咲かせます。花弁には紅色の条斑が入ります。

Bishop's hat (Erodium x variabile) belongs to Geraniaceae (the Geranium family). It is a perennial herb that is an interspecific hybrid of Erodium reichardii and Erodium corsicum native to southwestern Europe. This herb grows up about 15-20 cm in height and spread by crawling stems on the ground. The leaves are rounded-cordate and lobed, and are used for the ground cover. The pink flowers will bloom from June to September. The petals have red stripes.
